Three Cameroon Players Will Compete For The African Player Of The Year 2022

The African football scene is heating up as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announces the nominees for the 2022 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award. And with 13 players vying for the coveted title, the competition is sure to be fierce.

Among the top contenders are Vincent Aboubakar, Karl Toko Ekambi, and Zambo Anguissa, who have all made a name for themselves on the pitch. Aboubakar, in particular, made history by becoming the first player to score 8 goals in a single AFCON edition since 1974 in the just-ended AFCON 2021 in Cameroon. Meanwhile, Toko Ekambi finished as the second top scorer of AFCON 2021 with 5 goals, just behind Aboubakar.

But it’s not just about individual achievements. The Cameroon national football team, also known as the Indomitable Lions, has been nominated for the national team of the year award. And with players like Anguissa standing out as one of the best midfielders during AFCON 2021, it’s clear that Cameroon is a force to be reckoned with on the football field.

As fans eagerly await the announcement of the winners, one thing is certain: African football is alive and well, and these players are leading the charge towards greatness.
