Patriot Monument In Cameroon: Worth It?

The erected monument at the roundabout around the ministry of higher education in Yaoundé has come with mixed reactions.

The structure is a crisscrossed arc in white colour which carries the gold inscription “I LOVE MY COUNTRY CAMEROON” written in English and French. A white pillar carrying a football supports the intersect, above which is an emblem of the Cameroon map.

While few say it is a gesture to instill in Cameroonians a sense of patriotism, many are of the opinion that the structure is an utter disgrace and are of the opinion that an interchange would have been better.
